Smoked and Air Fried Buffalo Chicken Wings

  • 6 Servings
  • 24 hours Prep Time
  • 1.5 hours Cook Time

If you're looking for the best chicken wings you'll ever make at home, you're in the right place. These are @CookItWithTim's go-to buffalo wings. First smoked low and slow for flavor, then finished in the air fryer to create that crackly, crispy skin and golden brown finish everyone loves.

Ingredients

Tools

  • Paper towel
  • Bowl
  • Sheet Pan

Directions

  • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels then toss in BBQ rub until coated well. Cover and place wings in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
  • When you're ready to grill, preheat your smoker to 225°F and smoke the wings for 1 hour.
  • Remove the wings from the grill. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F, spray the basket with cooking spray, and air fry the wings until golden brown and crisp, flipping halfway. This will be approximately 12 minutes or until wings reach 195-200°F using a meat thermometer.
  • To make the buffalo sauce, melt butter in a small pot on the stove and whisk in hot sauce. Remove after warm and incorporated.
  • In a large bowl, toss the wings in the sauce and serve hot with blue cheese or ranch dressing (and celery if you want the full wing experience).
