Bourbon Chili Cheese Dog

These Bourbon Chili Cheese Dogs are a simple, crowd-pleasing BBQ favorite. Grilled hot dogs are topped with a hearty bourbon chili and melted cheese, and onions for the ultimate bite. Perfect for cookouts, game days, or an easy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 12 beef hot dogs
  • 12 sausage roll buns
  • Red Onion, minced
  • Shredded smoked white cheddar cheese
  • 1lb. ground wagyu beef 80/20
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 2 cups unsalted beef broth
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1/3 cup chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 4 Garlic Cloves, Minced
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp MSG
  • 1 tbsp malt vinegar

Directions

  • In a large pot or cast iron, brown the ground beef for 4-5 minutes before adding in the minced garlic and white onion. Cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  • Add in the beef broth, tomato sauce, chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, cumin, malt vinegar, chili powder, and bourbon to the pot and stir thoroughly to combine.
  • Allow the chili to cook down on a medium-low heat for about an hour, or until it is reduced by 2/3.
  • Preheat your Pit Boss to 450°F
  • Grill the hot dogs to desired doneness
  • Assemble the hot dogs into the sausage rolls and top with a spoonful of the beef chili.
  • Top the hot dogs with the shredded cheddar cheese and minced red onion. Serve immediately
