Tried and true, the Old Fashioned cocktail has been loved by many since the early 1800s. In this recipe, we take it up a notch with wood-fired flavor from BBQ pellets and a smoke tube to give this classic drink a smoky upgrade. It's the perfect addition to your backyard BBQ, Father's Day dinner, or weekend date night.

Cooking method: This recipe uses a method called 'cold smoking,' which infuses wood flavor into food, without cooking it. We've detailed how to achieve the perfect cold smoke in this recipe with a pellet smoke tube.

  • Place your glasses in the freezer to chill.
  • Fill a smoke tube with Hardwood Cherry BBQ Pellets and light. Allow to burn until a small flame is established and the tube begins smoking.
  • Once glasses are chilled, remove from the freezer and hold upside down over the smoldering smoke tube until filled with smoke. Note: you can place the smoke tube in your grill, on a heat-resistant surface with the unlit side down, or handle carefully with high-heat gloves.
  • In a shaker or other glass, muddle sugar, water, and bitters until just dissolved. Add bourbon and stir.
  • Into your chilled and smoked glasses, add ice, bourbon mixture, and garnish with an orange twist and cherries.
  • Enjoy responsibly.
